A small change in direction

I wanted to start this post with some brilliant observation about life that would completely sum up the last few months in a sentence or two, and thereby relieve me of the need to explain why I haven’t posted much recently. Unfortunately, brilliance is missing from my brain this morning, and instead, I’m just left with the explanation, and an apology.

When I started this blog, I’d wanted it to be a place where all sorts of weight-related ideas and issues could be explored. But before that, I’d also wanted the blog to be a record in a way, of my own journey. Don’t worry – I know full-well what a blog cliche that is. 🙂 For me, however, my own journey is really where all the other stuff comes from. I have a weight problem, and in an attempt to conquer it, I have tried to learn as much about it as possible. Wanting to share what I learned was an automatic next-step for me.

But to really share my personal journey, I needed to tell my whole story and to be honest, I found that part of the job very hard, as I’ve mentioned in a few other posts. The very public nature of the internet means that my story, with all its faults and flaws, will be out there forever, no matter what I do or say subsequent to that. I’m a very private person, and baring all in that sense really doesn’t appeal to me. Especially given that it can also reflect on my loved ones.

Which has been a very big part of why I haven’t posted much in the last few months. Another has been that my personal life has been exceptionally busy, with a house move, a booming work situation and study commitments taking up almost every spare moment.

So I decided to take a few months to think about what I wanted to achieve with the blog, and to work out what, if any, of my own journey I could cope with discussing. The result is this post and the others that will follow. I hope you’ll find the changes an enhancement to the blog – that’s what they’re intended to be. You’ll be seeing a lot more of my own story and my current journey, but there’ll still be plenty of other stuff in here as well. As always, any thoughts, suggestions or comments are always welcome.
